Self Healing

Yacht Armor marine PPF will self heal in sunlight or when heat is applied. Any fender wear, minor scuffs or abrasions, swirls and scratching from washing with a brush, yacht armor will easily defend against. However any damages that penetrate the film will need to be repaired.

Installation

Yacht Armor Installation begins with an initial inspection of the areas you want the marine paint protection film applied to. Any defects such as scratches or chips should be fixed prior to installation. A quick polish prior to application is recommended. Each surface will be properly decontaminated with a solvent to ensure proper adhesion. The film is applied wet using a “slip solution” to place the film. Once film is in place all liquid is then squeegeed out. Once the film is installed and dry we will trim around necessary edges, such as windows, through hulls, bodylines etc.  A final inspection is performed to meet our quality standards.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What exactly is yacht Armor marine protection film?

Yacht armor is a physical 8mm thick clear film. Similar to auto paint protection film, just specifically designed for the marine environment.

Yacht armor will last 5-7 years with proper maintenance and care

The guarantee covers cracking, bubbling, and yellowing of the marine protection film caused by manufacturing defects for a period of 3 years from the date of initial installation.

Basic wash care and drying is all your new film will need to stay looking brand new! We can set you up with a custom maintenance plan, so you don’t have to worry about maintenance!

At the end of the film’s life it may be time to replace. Removal is similar to removing a vinyl wrap, we use a heat gun or steam to loosen the adhesive and peel back the film. The surface will be as shiny and perfect as it was when the film was installed. Some adhesive will be left behind but easily removable with a solvent. In very rare cases, similar to vinyl wraps, some paint may be lifted during the removal process.
