Protecting Your Brand New Nor-Tech Boat: PPG Paint, XPEL Marine PPF, Ceramic Coating and South Florida Protection

Buying a brand new Nor-Tech is a little different from buying the average center console.

Custom paint, aggressive hull designs, high-performance Mercury power, painted engine cowlings, and a level of customization that makes almost every Nor-Tech unique.

That is also exactly why we believe protecting a new Nor-Tech should be planned and done before or shortly after you take delivery.

At Seaboard Surface Solutions, we have worked extensively with Nor-Tech boats across different years, models, colors and configurations. We have worked on newer Nor-Tech 340 Sports, 390 Sports, 450 Sports and other models, as well as older Nor-Techs that needed everything from light polishing to major paint correction and restoration.

We also work within the South Florida performance boating community alongside Nor-Tech sales and service professionals, including Bob Crow and South Florida Boat Center, Performance Boat Center, and others throughout Fort Lauderdale, Dania Beach and South Florida.

We know these boats extremely well.

More importantly, we know the areas that tend to show wear, the challenges that come with maintaining custom painted boats in South Florida, what a brand new Nor-Tech can look like perfected and protected when new, as well as several years later when it has been properly protected from the beginning.

Nor-Tech currently uses automotive PPG paint on its custom painted boats. Unlike a basic white gelcoat center console, the paint itself becomes one of the most valuable cosmetic components of the boat.

That creates an important question for every new Nor-Tech owner:

What should you do about the factory paint warranty before installing ceramic coating, Marine PPF or another protective product?

That subject deserves much more attention than it normally gets, typically most dealers and brokers would push towards waiting until the warranty expires after a year before deciding to protect the boat. By that point there is much more restorative work to be done, as the amount of damage and abuse the paint will take over the course of a year will need to be addressed.

This guide explains our approach to inspecting, perfecting and protecting a new Nor-Tech, including the paint warranty discussion, XPEL Marine PPF, ceramic coatings, combining PPF and ceramic, wax  (which we will steer you away from if you really care about your boat), maintenance and the other services we recommend considering before putting your new boat into regular use.

Whether your Nor-Tech is located in Fort Lauderdale, Dania Beach, Miami, Pompano Beach, Boca Raton, Palm Beach or somewhere else in South Florida, the basic philosophy is the same:

Find the problems first. Fix the problems first. Then protect the finish!

Why protecting a new Nor-Tech is different

Nor-Tech does something that separates these boats from many production center consoles.

They paint them with PPG paint, usually metallic, custom graphics, etc.

Nor-Tech offers an enormous selection of PPG colors and custom paint configurations. Depending on the boat, you may have painted hullsides, painted topside components, painted consoles, painted T-tops, painted engine cowlings and custom color combinations throughout the vessel.

That looks incredible when everything is perfect.

It also means improper washing, fender wear, possible dock / piling contact, hard water spots, salt, UV exposure and poor detailing techniques can become very noticeable, very quickly... particularly on darker colors.

Black, dark blue, gray, metallic colors and other deep finishes can show extremely fine defects, that would be less noticeable on lighter colors.

A white gelcoat boat can sometimes hide quite a bit.

A dark painted Nor-Tech will show every swirl mark and minor marring, especially once you know what to look for!

Under South Florida sunlight, swirl marks, sanding scratches, holograms and brush washing marks become very easy to see.

That is why our first step with a brand new Nor-Tech is usually not simply applying a coating.

It starts with a thorough inspection of paint condition first.

Brand new does not necessarily mean perfect

One of the biggest misconceptions we see with these boats is the idea that because the boat is brand new, and on the higher tier of pricing in their class, is that the paint must already be perfect.

That is never the case.

A new boat has already been through manufacturing, rigging, transportation, dealer preparation, washing, detailing and delivery before you ever start using it.

During that process we can find things such as:

  • Light swirl marks

  • Holograms from improper finish polishing

  • Sanding marks

  • Paint imperfections

  • Fine scratches

  • Possible Fender marks

  • Water spots from hard water sitting on an unprotected boat

  • Possible Overspray

  • Compound or polish residue stuck in cracks and crevasses

  • Marring from transportation

  • Previous spot repair areas that need additional finishing (from factory or warranty work)

All of this can be fixed with a proper "paint correction" or polishing process. Some light wetsanding in some cases as well.

Others may be legitimate paint or finish issues that should be covered under warranty via your dealer.

Our recommended first step: inspect the entire Nor-Tech before protecting it

If we are involved early enough, which we usually are... we do a complete walkthrough with a paint inspection light to find all areas that need to be addressed.

We look over the hullsides, transom, painted topside components, hardtop, motor cowlings and other highly visible / non visible areas.

If we find something that appears to be more than normal detailing or paint correction, we document it with photo / video.

If there is a paint issue that should legitimately be repaired under warranty, we can work with your dealer to address these areas.

Have the warranty issue corrected before we install long-term protection.

Once the boat has been inspected, any legitimate factory paint concerns have been addressed, repaired areas have cured properly and everybody is satisfied with the finish, we can move forward with correcting and protecting the boat.

The Nor-Tech PPG paint warranty conversation

This is probably the most important section of this entire article.

Nor-Tech currently uses automotive PPG paint on its custom painted boats, Its a fantastic paint, and looks incredible!

On newer Nor-Techs, we regularly encounter owners and industry professionals working around a one-year paint warranty period and guidance that ceramic coatings, paint protection film and even wax can create warranty concerns during that period.

However, we do have an opinion about leaving a brand new custom painted performance boat completely unprotected in South Florida for a year.

Our opinion on waiting an entire year

We understand why a manufacturer wants control over what gets applied to a painted surface during a warranty period. From a paint warranty viewpoint it makes complete sense, that way there's no confusion whether its and actual warranty issue or a mistake from a lesser experienced detailer.

From a paint preservation standpoint, we look at the other side of the argument. And the guaranteed damage that comes with it. Especially here in South Florida.

During that year waiting for the warranty to expire your boat will experience:

  • Intense UV exposure

  • Saltwater drying on the paint (which leads to etching over time. The minerals in the water will dry and if left behind will etch into the paint, in the same pattern the waterspots were left to dry)

  • Hard water (from marinas, docks, etc. the best way to combat this is to get a water softener in general)

  • Repeated washing (brush strokes swill swirl and mar the paint over time)

  • Drying marks (slapping a shammy around, and drying with towels will also mar the paint over time)

  • Fender rubbing (will also mar and and cloud the paint around the fender areas over time (especially on clear coat)

  • Dock contact (little bumps and brushes with the dock will damage paint, PPF is the solutions for this)

  • Fuel residue (will stain the paint eventually, especially clear coat, ceramic is durable enough to prevent this, unlike wax)

  • Sunscreen (will distort cushion color over time)

  • Bird droppings (acids in the droppings will etch clear coat very easily)

  • Environmental contamination (soot from western fires, fallout from nearby roads when it rains, etc.)

  • Scratches around high-use areas (PPF is the solution)

  • Wear around engine cowlings from dock lines (PPF is the solution)

  • Water spotting

  • Swirl marks

In our professional opinion, the cumulative cosmetic damage that can occur during that first year can easily become more significant than the warranty protection an owner believes he is gaining by simply leaving the paint untouched for twelve months.

That does not mean we recommend blindly ignoring a warranty.

The way we prefer to handle a brand new Nor-Tech

Our preferred process is:

Step 1: Inspect the boat thoroughly.

We evaluate the paint and document anything questionable.

Step 2: Identify potential warranty concerns.

Paint defects should be separated from normal polishing or detailing issues.

Step 3: Have legitimate warranty issues corrected.

If Nor-Tech or the appropriate repair facility needs to repaint, touch up or correct something, we recommend doing it prior to our protection package.

Step 4: Allow repaired paint to cure according to the paint manufacturer's requirements.

Fresh paint should should have some time to cure (especially prior to PPF)

Step 5: Perfect the remaining paint.

We remove the swirls, holograms, fine scratches and other correctable defects throughout your boat.

Step 6: Decide how you want to protect the boat.

That normally means XPEL Marine PPF, ceramic coating or a combination of both.

For the right owner, we believe this approach makes much more sense than knowingly allowing a beautiful custom painted Nor-Tech to take twelve months of unnecessary wear and tear before doing anything to protect it. We prefer and offensive approach to maintenance rather than defensive.

What protection is best for a new Nor-Tech?

There are four main approaches we normally discuss.

Protection Method Primary Purpose Best Use on a Nor-Tech Main Limitation
XPEL Marine PPF Physical sacrificial layer Painted hullsides, engine cowlings and high-contact areas Higher initial investment
Marine ceramic coating Easier maintenance, gloss and environmental protection Paint, gelcoat, nonskid, metal, glass, plastics and other surfaces Does not provide the physical impact barrier of PPF
PPF + ceramic coating Maximum overall protection strategy PPF on vulnerable paint with ceramic on remaining surfaces Highest initial investment
Wax Temporary shine and basic protection Short-term or budget-focused maintenance Short lifespan and no meaningful physical scratch barrier

For most new Nor-Tech owners who are serious about keeping the boat looking new, our favorite approach is a combination of Marine PPF and ceramic coating.

But every boat is different.

A fully gelcoat 340 Sport stored inside may not need the same package as a dark metallic painted 450 Sport sitting behind a waterfront home in Fort Lauderdale.

The protection plan should match the use of the boat.

XPEL Marine PPF for a New Nor-Tech

PPF stands for paint protection film.

XPEL Marine Protection Film is a transparent polyurethane film designed specifically for marine environments.

Instead of the paint being the first surface that takes abuse, the film becomes the sacrificial barrier between the thing causing the damage, and the paint or gelcoat behind it.

A ceramic coating can help protect against environmental contamination and make the boat easier to maintain, but it cannot provide the same physical layer that paint protection film provides.

If a fender rubs against a painted hullside, someone drags equipment against the transom or a Mercury cowling gets lightly scratched during normal use, PPF gives the finish another layer of defense.

Most of these small issues noted in the list a few paragraphs above, (minor swirls and scratches) will activate PPFs "self healing" properties and disappear with heat.

Why Marine PPF makes so much sense on Nor-Techs

Many Nor-Tech's have highly customized paint schemes, and are clear coated.

Repairing custom marine paint is not the same as touching up a basic white gelcoat boat.

Color matching, metallic orientation, blending and finishing can make seemingly small repairs expensive and complicated. (For example a small 1 inch scratch on a metallic painted hullside  will have to repaired a foot or two in either direction to get the metallic to blend properly, costing 2-3 thousand dollars easily)

If we can protect the original finish and avoid paint repairs later, that is usually preferable.

The first areas we normally consider for Marine PPF

Hullsides

The hullsides are normally our first priority.

They receive fender contact, possible dock contact, usually lesser maintained than topsides, easier for salt and hard water spots to build up.

For many Nor-Tech owners, full hullside XPEL Marine PPF provides the best balance between appearance and physical protection.

Mercury engine cowlings

Engine cowlings are another major priority.

Painted Mercury cowlings look incredible but can scratch very easy, especially from dock lines when tied up at a slip a certain way.

When you have triple, quad or even quint engines across the transom, protecting the cowlings can prevent a lot of cosmetic frustration, again one small chip can end up be a couple thousand bucks to fix.

High-contact painted areas

We'll go over how you use your boat and any additional equipment your boat may have that may warrant a need for PPF.

There may be areas around boarding points, side doors, storage access, console areas, or other surfaces where film makes sense, especially the carbon accents most of these boats have.

Custom painted components

Some Nor-Techs have extensive custom paint work throughout the boat.

Those areas should be evaluated individually.

Sometimes PPF makes sense.

Sometimes ceramic coating gives a cleaner aesthetic result, without having seams and edges everywhere on complex surfaces that your would have with PPF.

The objective is not to cover every possible square inch with film.

The objective is to protect the areas where film provides a meaningful protective and cosmetic advantage.

Marine PPF FAQ for Nor-Tech owners

1. Can XPEL Marine PPF be installed on a painted Nor-Tech?

Yes, absolutely! Warranty work and paint correction should come first though.

2. Will clear Marine PPF change the appearance of my Nor-Tech?

Properly installed gloss Marine PPF is designed to remain transparent and can actually increase the visual depth and gloss of the underlying paint.

Edges and seams can still be visible at close range, especially around complicated shapes.

Good layout and preparation are extremely important on a high-end boat.

3. Does XPEL Marine PPF protect against scratches?

It provides a sacrificial physical layer that can help with light scratches, scuffs, abrasion and everyday contact.

It does not make the boat indestructible.

A severe impact can damage the film and potentially the paint underneath.

4. Can Marine PPF be installed on Mercury Racing engines?

Absolutely.

Engine cowlings are one of our favorite Marine PPF applications on Nor-Tech center consoles.

With triple, quad or quint engine packages, protecting the cowlings can prevent a lot of normal cosmetic wear.

5. Can damaged Marine PPF be repaired or replaced?

Yes.

One of the benefits of PPF is that a damaged section can often be removed and replaced without repainting the underlying surface, assuming the film absorbed the damage and the paint underneath remained intact.

6. What is the XPEL Marine PPF warranty?

XPEL currently publishes a three-year limited warranty for professionally installed Marine Protection Film above the waterline.

Ceramic Coating a New Nor-Tech

Marine ceramic coating serves a different purpose from PPF.

A ceramic coating is a liquid-applied protective product that cures over the properly prepared surface.

Our biggest reason for recommending ceramic coatings is maintenance.

A properly prepared and coated Nor-Tech is generally much easier to wash and maintain than a boat that is waxed or not protected at all.

It can also dramatically improve gloss and depth, especially after the paint has been properly polished first.

On dark Nor-Tech paint, the difference can be incredible.

Why preparation is everything

Ceramic coating should never be viewed as something we simply wipe onto the boat after delivery.

Same with PPF, the appearance underneath the coating matters.

The paint will have swirl marks and holograms before ceramic is applied, those defects do not magically disappear, in fact ceramic coating actually makes them easier to see!

That is why we polish first.

When you remove fine defects and increase the clarity of the paint, the coating goes over a much better surface. Enhancing an already perfectly polished surface, gives you an incredibly glossy finish,

That is how you create the deep, wet appearance people associate with professionally polished and ceramic coated paint.

Ceramic coating can protect much more than the hull

One of the biggest advantages of ceramic on a boat is versatility.

Depending on the package and products being used, we can protect surfaces such as:

  • Painted hullsides

  • Gelcoat

  • Painted consoles

  • Nonskid

  • Glass

  • Metal

  • Stainless steel

  • Plastics

  • Inside Hatches & Compartments

  • Hardtops

  • Upholstery surfaces

This allows us to protect areas where PPF either is not necessary or would not make sense aesthetically. We can pretty much apply ceramic on every single surface of the boat!

Ceramic coating FAQ for Nor-Tech owners

1. Is ceramic coating worth it on a brand new Nor-Tech?

In our opinion, yes, especially if you want easier maintenance, improved gloss and better long-term preservation than traditional waxing.

For owners concerned about scratches and rubbing as well, we normally recommend combining ceramic coating with Marine PPF.

2. Does ceramic coating prevent scratches?

No.

This is one of the most misunderstood things about ceramic coatings.

Ceramic coatings are not a replacement for PPF when physical scratch protection is the goal.

3. Will a ceramic-coated Nor-Tech still get water spots?

It can.

Ceramic coating makes the surface easier to maintain, but water still contains minerals.

If water is allowed to dry repeatedly on the surface, spotting can occur.

Proper washing and drying still matter.

4. How long does marine ceramic coating last in South Florida?

Our realistic expectation for the marine coatings we install is approximately 18 to 24 months, depending on exposure, storage, use and maintenance.

We recommend annual maintenance, being a light polish and another layer of coating applied. This keeps your boat looking perfect pretty much constantly.

5. Does a ceramic-coated Nor-Tech still need regular washing?

Absolutely.

Ceramic does not eliminate maintenance.

It makes proper maintenance easier.

A boat sitting in saltwater still needs to be rinsed, washed and dried correctly.

Combining XPEL Marine PPF and Ceramic Coating on a Nor-Tech

For many Nor-Tech owners, this is our favorite package.

PPF and ceramic perform different jobs.

Instead of forcing one product to do everything, we use each product where it performs best.

PPF goes on the areas most likely to experience physical contact.

Ceramic coating protects the remaining surfaces and simplifies maintenance.

Our typical combination package

Every boat is different, but a common Nor-Tech protection strategy might include:

XPEL Marine PPF:

  • Full hullsides

  • Engine cowlings

  • Selected high-contact painted areas

Marine ceramic coating:

  • Topsides

  • Nonskid

  • Remaining painted areas

  • Glass

  • Stainless steel and metal

  • Plastics

  • Inside Hatches & Compartments

  • On top of PPF

A ceramic product compatible with the film can also be applied over the Marine PPF to improve water behavior and maintenance.

That gives you physical protection where you need it most and easier maintenance throughout the rest of the boat.

Five FAQs about combining PPF and ceramic on a Nor-Tech

1. Can ceramic coating be installed over XPEL Marine PPF?

Yes, compatible ceramic coatings can be applied over protection film.

XPEL also offers ceramic products intended to work with its films.

2. Is PPF and ceramic better than ceramic alone?

They solve different problems.

If physical contact and scratching are concerns, PPF adds protection that ceramic alone does not provide.

If your priorities are primarily gloss and easier maintenance, ceramic alone may be enough.

3. What should receive PPF first on a Nor-Tech?

Our first priorities are usually painted hullsides and engine cowlings.

From there we inspect the boat for additional high-contact areas.

4. Can I PPF the hull now and ceramic coat the boat later?

Yes.

The project can be completed in stages if necessary.

However, doing the paint correction and protection together usually produces the most efficient process and most consistent final result.

5. Does a fully protected Nor-Tech still need maintenance?

Yes.

There is no product that eliminates proper boat maintenance.

Clean wash mitts, clean microfiber towels, clean fenders and appropriate soaps are still extremely important.

If you do not want to deal with maintaining it yourself, ask us about our boat wash and maintenance programs throughout South Florida.

Why Wax Is Our Least Favorite Option for a New Nor-Tech

Wax still has a place in marine detailing.

We use it when appropriate.

But if somebody just spent hundreds of thousands of dollars, and sometimes considerably more, building a custom painted Nor-Tech, wax would generally be our last choice for the primary long-term protection strategy.

South Florida is simply too harsh.

UV exposure, heat, washing and chemicals shorten the usable life of conventional wax.

In our environment, owners may be looking at reapplication roughly every few months depending on the product and how the boat is stored.

That means continually polishing and waxing the boat.

Ceramic coating normally gives us better longevity and easier maintenance.

PPF gives us physical protection wax cannot provide at all.

Marine wax FAQ for Nor-Tech owners

1. Is wax better than leaving my Nor-Tech completely unprotected?

Normally, yes, assuming the paint manufacturer and warranty allow it.

A suitable wax can provide temporary protection.

It simply would not be our first choice for long-term protection.

2. How often will my Nor-Tech need to be waxed?

In South Florida, we normally expect conventional marine wax protection to require attention approximately every three months depending on use, storage and washing.

3. Does wax prevent scratches or fender damage?

No.

Wax is not a meaningful physical barrier against scratching or rubbing.

4. Can I put wax over ceramic coating or PPF?

We do not recommend adding random waxes over protected surfaces.

Use maintenance products specifically compatible with the installed coating or film.

5. Can an older waxed Nor-Tech be converted to ceramic or PPF?

Absolutely.

The old protection needs to be removed and the paint properly evaluated, corrected and prepared first.

What About an Older Nor-Tech?

Everything in this guide is focused on protecting a brand new Nor-Tech, but we work on plenty of older boats as well.

In some ways, older Nor-Techs are where experience matters even more.

We see boats with years of improper washing, oxidation, sanding marks, previous paint work, deep scratches, faded areas and old polishing damage.

Before recommending protection, we first determine what can realistically be corrected.

A five-year-old 390 Sport may require substantially more preparation than a boat being delivered next week.

A much older legacy Nor-Tech may require wet sanding, multi-stage compounding and polishing, or even paint work before it makes sense to protect it.

We have experience working with Nor-Tech boats across generations.

That matters because the solution for every boat is different.

Nor-Tech models we work with

Nor-Tech's current and legacy model history includes a wide range of boats.

Current center console models include the 340 Sport, 390 Sport, 400 Supersport, 450 Sport, 500 Sport and 42 Eleven.

Nor-Tech also builds models such as the 360 Flyer, 420 Monte Carlo, 460 Flyer, 55 Flyer and 4000 Roadster, along with numerous legacy performance boats and catamarans.

The protection strategy on a 340 Sport is not automatically the same as a 500 Sport.

A center console with multiple exposed Mercury Racing engines has different priorities from a Flyer or Monte Carlo.

That is one reason we prefer to build the protection package around the actual boat instead of offering a generic one-size-fits-all package.

Why Our Nor-Tech Experience Matters

Anybody can turn on a polisher and apply a ceramic coating, but doing it, and doing it to our level of expertise are two different things.

Nor-Techs require a little more understanding, and "finesse"

These are custom painted high-performance boats that can have very expensive finishes, unique layouts and complicated surfaces.

We have extensive experience with Nor-Tech boats throughout South Florida.

We work with boats that are brand new, boats several years old and older boats being restored back to a much higher cosmetic standard.

We also work with people who know these boats extremely well, including Bob Crow and South Florida Boat Center, Performance Boat Center, Performance Marine Trading, and other professionals in the South Florida performance boat community.

Performance Boat Center's Fort Lauderdale operation regularly services high-performance boats including Nor-Tech, while South Florida Boat Center operates in the Nor-Tech sales and service market in Dania Beach.

Those relationships matter.

If we identify something during an inspection that looks more like a paint or service issue than a detailing issue, we want the right people involved before protection goes over it.

Our goal is not just to make the boat shiny.

Our goal is to help protect the boat correctly, and offensively rather than constantly playing defense.

How We Would Prepare a New Nor-Tech Before Delivery

If you have a Nor-Tech currently being built or delivered to South Florida, contact us as early as possible.

You do not need to wait until the boat is sitting behind your house.

Tell us:

  • Year

  • Model

  • Hull color

  • Engine package

  • Delivery location

  • Expected delivery date

  • Where the boat will be stored

  • Whether it will be lift kept, trailer kept, indoor stored or wet slipped

  • How frequently you expect to use it

Then we can start discussing protection options, that fit the way you use your boat.

Looking After Your Nor-Tech After PPF or Ceramic Coating

Protection makes maintenance easier.

It does not make maintenance unnecessary.

We still recommend regular washing.

Salt should not be left sitting on the boat.

Hard water should not repeatedly dry on painted surfaces.

Fenders should be kept clean.

Microfiber towels and wash tools should also be kept clean because trapped dirt can create scratches.

We recommend soaps and maintenance products compatible with the specific coating or film installed.

Film edges should be inspected periodically.

If an area of PPF becomes damaged, tell us.

It is much better to replace a compromised section of film than allow contamination or water to continue affecting a damaged edge.

Owners who would rather enjoy the boat and let somebody else deal with all of this can use one of our South Florida boat washing and maintenance plans.

Additional Services for Your Nor-Tech

Protection is only part of what we do.

We can coordinate several services while preparing your Nor-Tech.

Ten Final FAQs About Protecting a New Nor-Tech

1. What is the best protection for a brand new Nor-Tech?

For an owner who wants our strongest overall protection strategy, we normally prefer a combination of XPEL Marine PPF and ceramic coating.

PPF protects high-contact painted surfaces while ceramic coating protects and simplifies maintenance on the remaining areas.

The exact package should be designed around the boat.

2. Should I have my Nor-Tech inspected before taking delivery?

We strongly recommend a detailed finish inspection as early as practical.

This gives you an opportunity to document potential paint concerns before months of boating and washing make it more difficult to determine when damage occurred.

3. Should I wait one year before ceramic coating or PPF because of the paint warranty?

This needs to be evaluated carefully.

On newer Nor-Techs we have encountered one-year paint warranty considerations surrounding aftermarket protection.

We recommend confirming the exact warranty requirements for your specific boat directly with Nor-Tech.

Our preferred approach is to thoroughly inspect the paint, identify legitimate warranty issues, have those issues corrected, allow any repaired paint to cure properly, then make an informed decision about protection.

In our professional experience, leaving expensive custom paint completely unprotected for a full year in South Florida also carries significant cosmetic risk.

4. Does Nor-Tech use PPG paint?

Nor-Tech publicly states that its boats are custom painted using automotive PPG paint and offers thousands of PPG color possibilities on its custom painted vessels.

That beautiful paint is one of the reasons we place so much emphasis on proper inspection and protection.

5. Can you install PPF on a dark colored Nor-Tech?

Yes.

Dark colors are actually some of the boats where owners appreciate protection most because scratches, swirl marks and fender wear tend to be much easier to see.

Paint preparation before installation becomes especially important.

6. How much does Nor-Tech PPF cost?

Marine PPF pricing depends on the model, square footage, surface complexity, film layout and the amount of preparation required.

Contact us with your model and desired coverage for accurate pricing, you can expect roughly $35/ sqft and $1000 per cowling.

7. How much does ceramic coating a Nor-Tech cost?

Pricing varies based on boat length, condition and the surfaces being protected.

A new boat that only requires relatively light correction will usually require less preparation than an older boat with years of paint defects.

8. Can you work on my Nor-Tech at my house or marina in Fort Lauderdale?

Yes, depending on the scope of work and marina requirements.

We provide mobile service throughout Fort Lauderdale and South Florida.

Certain large paint correction, PPF, bottom work or multi-service projects may be better completed at a controlled facility.

We can help determine the best option.

9. Can you protect a Nor-Tech that is already a few years old?

Absolutely.

We first inspect the paint and determine how much correction or restoration is required.

Once the finish has been brought to the appropriate standard, we can discuss ceramic coating, PPF or a combination.

10. What information should I send Seaboard to get started?

Send us the year, model, color, location and a few photos if they are available.

If the boat has not been delivered yet, send us the expected delivery date.

We can start planning before the boat arrives.

Protecting Your Nor-Tech in Fort Lauderdale and South Florida

A Nor-Tech is not an ordinary center console.

It is a custom, high-performance boat with a finish that deserves the same level of attention as the engineering underneath it.

Our philosophy is simple.

Do not wait until the paint is scratched, swirled and worn before thinking about protecting it.

Start with an inspection.

Identify anything that should be corrected through the factory or warranty process.

Perfect the finish.

Then protect it appropriately.

For some owners that means ceramic coating.

For others it means XPEL Marine PPF.

For many of our Nor-Tech clients, the best solution is a combination of both.

Seaboard Surface Solutions works with Nor-Tech owners throughout Fort Lauderdale, Dania Beach, Miami, Pompano Beach, Lighthouse Point, Boca Raton, Delray Beach, Palm Beach and the rest of South Florida.
